Announcing Oxford Reads 2018

New initiative celebrates community and connectivity through reading and discussion

Oxford County Library is inviting book-lovers across the county to participate in its first annual Oxford Reads initiative. The program encourages reading and community discussion through one featured book that highlights a variety of important themes that relate to the rich history of Oxford County.

In its inaugural year, Oxford Reads is asking community members to join the initiative by reading Linda Spalding’s The Purchase, winner of the 2012 Governor General’s Award for Fiction.

Whether the plan is to lounge on the dock or curl up on the couch, readers are encouraged to add The Purchase to their summer reading lists. Those who are interested can place a hold on a copy of the book at search.ocl.net or in-person at any of the County’s 14 library branches, where reading guides will also be available. Anyone interested in purchasing a copy can do so at Merrifield Book Shop in Woodstock.

A series of programs and events highlighting the diverse themes found in The Purchase will be held across the County’s many library branches, including a gala featuring the author this fall with more details to be announced late summer. Stay tuned to ocl.net or sign up for the Oxford County Library e-newsletters for Oxford Reads updates.
