Purpose

Oxford County has completed a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) Study to explore potential opportunities for a new well supply to improve the security and supply of drinking water in the Village of Tavistock in the Township of East Zorra-Tavistock. The study's purpose was to assess and determine the optimum location for Tavistock Well 4.

An Environmental Study Report (ESR) summarizing the Class EA Study process and findings is now available online for a 30-day comment period. Interested persons may provide written comments by mail or email regarding the ESR between May 30, 2024 and June 28, 2024 to:

Scope

This ‘Schedule C’ Class EA Study evaluated alternative locations with consideration for the natural, cultural, economic and technical environments and recommend a preferred location in consultation with the public, Indigenous communities and regulatory agencies.

Public consultation

Consultation with the residents and businesses of Tavistock was a key part of the study process, with public input sought at different points throughout the study period.

  • Contact with a member of the project team. Interested parties were invited to contact the project team to be added to the study’s mailing list or to provide comments.
  • Public Consultation Centres (PCCs). Two PCCs were held during the study to review information and provide feedback. PCC #1 was held on December 15, 2022. PCC #2 was a virtual (online) meeting that took place on September 26, 2023.
