Tourism Champion of the Year
Tourism lead Meredith Maywood recognized by Tourism Industry Association of Ontario
Oxford County’s exceptional work in tourism was recognized last week at the Ontario Tourism Resiliency Awards in Huntsville, where Meredith Maywood, the County’s tourism lead, was recognized as the 2022 Tourism Champion of the Year.
The Tourism Champion award, bestowed through Tourism Industry Association of Ontario peer nominations, is awarded annually to an individual who embodies Ontario's tourism spirit. Maywood’s selection was based on a number of achievements and collaborations, in particular her efforts to support local businesses in recovering from the economic challenges of COVID-19.
Maywood has developed a suite of local tourism experiences, including the Oxford County Cheese Trail, Gravel Grazers/Ride Oxford, and the co-brand Oxford Fresh. Through Tourism Oxford’s support, several local businesses have developed experiential tourism offerings, such as Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life, Snyder’s Fall Campfires, Early Bird Coffee Roasting Lab, the award-winning Ottercreek Woodworks Tree to Table, and many more. Tourism Oxford is also the recipient of Gold Level certificate in Green Tourism for its green tourism offerings.
Tourism Oxford partner Udderly Ridiculous Farm Life in Bright also received three honours at the award ceremony: Sustainability, Innovation, and Collaboration.
