Fine free

The Oxford County Library is committed to eliminating as many financial barriers as possible. We have eliminated overdue fines on all material for all patrons. Fees will still apply to damaged and lost items.

Most of our items are checked out for three weeks at a time. DVDs, Quick Picks, magazines, and speciality items are checked out for one week. These items can be renewed twice for a maximum of three check out periods. Items that cannot be renewed include: items with holds, Quick Picks and any item exceeding the renewal limit.

You can place a hold in person at any of our branches or online using My Account on our catalogue.

You will receive an email, phone call or text when your hold is available to be picked up. Once a hold is available it will be held for one week at your pick up branch.

To place a hold:

  1. Search for the item in our catalogue
  2. Click the "place a hold" button located on the righthand side of the item page
  3. Sign into your account using your library card and PIN number
  4. Choose your pick up branch and click "Place hold(s)"

If the item you are requesting is currently checked out, it will be sent to your branch when it is returned and you are next on the list.

If the item you have requested is checked in, it will be sent through our library delivery service to your pick up branch.

You can cancel or suspend your holds (perfect if you're going on vacation) online using your account through our catalogue page.

If you are looking for an item that is not available in one of our 14 branches, you may submit a request and OCL staff will try to source that item for you.

You can submit a request on our library catalogue in the top right corner using the button "Submit a Request".

All requests are subject to our collection development policy and our ILLO guidelines.

You can manage your account online using "My Account" (located on the top righthand corner of our catalogue). Here you can view your current checkouts, check your due dates, renew items, and check our holds. You can also create custom lists and check your reading history.

If you have any questions about your account please contact myaccount@ocl.net or contact your local branch.
