Step Right Up! This March Break you will celebrate A Carnival of Creativity at the Oxford County Library.

Tuesday March 11 - Drop in 11am-12pm, or 4-7pm
Join us for some March Break fun as we celebrate our Carnival Theme! Make your own juggling balls and learn some simple tricks to help you learn how to juggle! Ages 6 and up

Tuesday, March 12 - Drop in 4-7pm OR March 14 @11am-12pm
Make Your Own Maze Game
Join us for some March Break fun as we celebrate our Carnival Theme and create your own hand held Maze Game. This will test your balancing skills. Ages 6 and pup

Take part in some fun carnival games and enjoy some popcorn!

Ingersoll Branch

Monday, March 10

  • Mr. Oh! Magic Show: 10am show start (No registration required)
    The incredible Mr. Oh! is back to dazzle us with his magical talents!
  • Carnival Kickoff Party: 1pm-3pm (Drop-in)
    Let’s kickoff March Break with a carnival party! Drop by for face painting with Ms. Sarah, a scavenger hunt, prizes, games and more!

Tuesday, March 11

  • Cup-Ball Game: 10am – 12pm (Drop-in – Program Room)
    Together we will make a cup-ball game and test your skills!
  • Hanging Hobbit Doors: 1-2pm (Teens in grades 7-12)
    Design your very own mini Hobbit door sure to be the envy of the Shire. Space is limited, registration required. 
  • Magical Masks: 1pm-3pm (Drop-in – Program Room)
    Drop by to create your very own magical mask

Wednesday, March 12

  • Ventriloquist Yvette Locke and her Puppet Friends: 10am show start  (No registration required)
    Join Canada’s premiere female ventriloquist, Yvette Locke, and her puppet friends for a super silly show!
  • DIY Marionette: 1pm-3pm (Drop-in – Program Room)
    Drop by and make a DIY marionette puppet
  • Minecraft Origami & Pixel Art: 1-3pm (Drop-in - Teens in grades 7-12)
    Celebrate the upcoming Minecraft movie and create your favourite characters with origami and perler beads. We’ll craft, snack, and chat with other fans! 

Thursday, March 13

  • Carousel Animals: 10am-12pm (Drop-in – Program Room)
    Drop by and make a creative carousel animal
  • Balancing Clowns: 1pm-3pm (Drop-in – Program Room)
    Together we will create balancing clowns that defy gravity

Friday, March 14

  • Cartooning with Mr. AJ: 10am – 12pm (Come for a 10am start OR an 11am start)
    Local author and artist, Mr. AJ, guides us through a 1-hour carnival cartooning class
  • Family Movie – Wonka (2023): 1pm show start time (No Registration Required). Movie Rated PG

Innerkip Branch

Drop-in programs, available all week:

  • Carnival Train Craft: Decorate a train car and draw a member of the carnival inside.
  • Ring Toss Game: Test your aim! Try and get a ring around a bottle.
  • Duck Pond Matching Game: Test your memory! Try and find all the pairs of ducks with the same symbol.
  • Prize Draw: Enter your name in a draw each time you participate for a chance to win a prize!

Tuesday March 11th, 3pm
Carnival RPG: A mysterious carnival has appeared in the neighborhood. Use paper, pencils, and dice to explore it! Simplified, based on the Monster of the Week tabletop roleplaying system. All ages welcome, but some simple math will be involved (addition and subtraction).

Thursday March 13th, 4-6pm
Critter Craft: Put paint to a shape cut out of an egg carton and create your own critter friends. Add a scarf for extra flair. Who will you Make?

Tales for Tots Carnival Crayons!

Enjoy stories, songs, crafts and play stations.

Techie Tinkering Time
Are you a fan of rollercoasters? How about building them? What kind of rollercoaster can you design using the recycled materials we have been collecting? Come build and have some popcorn.

Learn to juggle workshop with Doug the Great: Registration required (30 spots max). Located at Princeton Centennial Hall, next door to the Princeton Library.

Thursday, March 13, 2-3pm
Carnival Games: Come out to the Princeton Library at 2pm to play some Carnival Games and Challenges!

Tavistock Branch

Available all week - Scavenger Hunt, Busker Booth Challenges, Teen Zines, Carnival Community Art, Photobooth and Craft and Connect Kits (while supplies last).

  • Library Carnival Mask Making: 10-11:30am (All ages, Drop-in, Program Room)
    Get creative and make a carnival paper mask using a variety of decorative materials! All materials provided.

  • Magic Show with Mr. Oh!: 1pm (Registration required - Program Room)
    Mr. Oh! will make you laugh in this interactive show full of magic tricks and mirth!

Tuesday, March 11

  • Design Your Own Handbag Out of a Book!: 10:30am to 12:30pm (Registration Required. Ages 12-17)
    Local artist, Stella Jurgen, will guide participants through the construction of their very own book handbags. 

  • March Break Movie: Sing 2: 2pm (Drop-in - Program Room)
    Come watch the family-friendly movie Sing 2 (2021). Snacks will be provided. Please do not bring outside food.

Wednesday, March 12

  • Shake, Rattle, and Read: Library Carnival Storytime: 9:30-10:30am (Drop-in - Program Room)
    Together we will boost our early literacy skills with songs, stories and movement followed by a carnival craft!

  • Yvette and Her Puppet Friends Show: 1pm (Registration required - Program Room)
    Ventriloquist Yvette will perform with puppet Prescilla who needs your help to build her rainbow of colours. Learn about primary and secondary colours through this fun puppet show and meet the puppets afterwards. 

Thursday, March 13

  • Clown Craft, Carnival Games, and Temporary Tattoo Bar: 10am-12pm (Drop-in - Children's Area)
    Use provided materials to craft a clown, play carnival games, and try out a temporary tattoo or two in our children’s area!

  • Hanging Hobbit Doors: 10-11am (Teens in grades 7-12, Registration required - Program Room)
    Design your very own mini Hobbit door sure to be the envy of the Shire. Space is limited, registration required.

Friday, March 14

  • Minecraft Origami & Pixel Art: 1-2pm (Teens in grades 7-12, Drop-in - Program Room)
